Review of the Apple MacBook Pro 15 Retina: is it worth paying for the “apple”?

Hel­lo. Today I want to intro­duce you to the Mac­Book Pro 15 Reti­na 2014 lap­top. In this review, you will find out all the pros and cons, and is it worth over­pay­ing for this lap­top, if you can buy, in fact, the same, but 2 times cheap­er? Let’s go!

Equip­ment. A lap­top is sup­plied with doc­u­men­ta­tion, brand­ed stick­ers, micro fiber i-cloth and pow­er adapter with option­al exten­sion cord. The lat­ter wors­ens the porta­bil­i­ty of charg­ing, so its neces­si­ty, sub­jec­tive­ly speak­ing, is doubt­ful.
Design. Com­put­ers Apple change their design quite rarely and not very sig­nif­i­cant­ly. And this is espe­cial­ly true for lap­tops.Pro 15 is a clear exam­ple of this. There­fore, I will not dwell on the design in detail, because every­one prob­a­bly knows what the famous lap­top looks like.J
Most of the body parts are milled from alu­mini­um. The pre­ci­sion of the parts is very high, result­ing in a per­fect fit and excep­tion­al build qual­i­ty. The lap­top is very resis­tant to dirt and scratch­es. With prop­er care, the device will retain its pleas­ant appear­ance for a long time.
Despite the fact that the design of lap­tops has not changed for a long time, the device does not look old-fash­ioned, espe­cial­ly since com­peti­tors are just start­ing to intro­duce design solu­tions that have long become com­mon­place in the Mac­Book series.
One of the unsuc­cess­ful tech­ni­cal solu­tions is the use of an all-glass pan­el that cov­ers the dis­play. It’s more to do with the black edg­ing that picks up fin­ger­prints.
The dimen­sions of the lap­top are 358.9 by 247.1 by 18 mil­lime­ters with a weight of 2 kilo­grams. With such weight and size indi­ca­tors, the device is on the verge of the con­cept of “ultra­book”.
On the left is a mini-jack con­nec­tor, Usb 3.0 and a brand­ed mag­net­ic pow­er port, which is much more con­ve­nient and prac­ti­cal than com­peti­tors’ solu­tions. The front is emp­ty. On the right is “sd card read­er, HDIM and one more usb 3.0. The lap­top lid is dif­fi­cult to open. To do this with one hand is gen­er­al­ly unre­al­is­tic. Per­haps such a step is a pre­cau­tion­ary mea­sure.
After open­ing the lid, our view is pro­vid­ed with a dis­play, a light sen­sor and a cam­era with an oper­a­tion indi­ca­tor. Below is the key­board, “touch pad” and 2 per­fo­ra­tion zones, behind which the stereo micro­phone and audio sys­tems are hid­den. There are cool­ing sys­tems in the lid hinge.
Key­board. It is very com­fort­able here, the key trav­el is low and soft. Extra­ne­ous sounds dur­ing work are at least, which is espe­cial­ly felt when you work at night. Then the built-in key­board back­light comes to the res­cue. Its imple­men­ta­tion, as always, is on top, and the abil­i­ty to fine-tune leaves behind all com­peti­tors.

The bright­ness range of the dis­play is uni­ver­sal, it allows you to work both in the dark and out­doors on a sun­ny day. View­ing angles are good too.
Iron. It is rep­re­sent­ed by a 4‑core proces­sor intel core i7.16 GB of RAM, and ssd- 512 GB stor­age.
Video per­for­mance in appli­ca­tion appli­ca­tions is quite high. The per­for­mance of the lap­top in games is very good, every­thing goes smooth­ly, with­out brakes and “lags” at max­i­mum set­tings.

Heat. Dur­ing every­day tasks, the com­put­er does not heat up at all. Dur­ing more com­plex process­es, the work­ing sur­face becomes even­ly warm and the cool­ing sys­tem turns on.
auton­o­my for com­plex tasks, low — about three to four hours in games, or dur­ing edit­ing. Dur­ing less resource-inten­sive process­es, the sit­u­a­tion changes dra­mat­i­cal­ly. When I work with text and a brows­er, the lap­top lives for more than five hours on half the bat­tery.
Sound. Here he is, in head­phones, good, but not per­fect. But from the speak­ers it is beau­ti­ful, it is loud and of high qual­i­ty.
Lap­top run­ning on oper­at­ing sys­tem ios 10. The update brought a new design, opti­miza­tion and inter­ac­tion with the mobile plat­form. The oper­a­tion is clear and sim­ple.
The work of the eco-sys­tem, which unites all devices into a sin­gle whole, deserves the most atten­tion. For exam­ple, from a lap­top, you can answer an incom­ing call com­ing to the iPhone.
Con­clu­sion. What do we get for such “small” mon­ey? The answer is sim­ple — an uncom­pro­mis­ing work machine with pow­er­ful hard­ware, a good dis­play and a nice body. Con­ve­nient con­trols, decent auton­o­my, and an excel­lent oper­at­ing sys­tem. The only major down­side to the Mac­Book Pro 15 Reti­na is the price, but if you’re look­ing for a work machine, you can be sure it will pay for itself pret­ty quick­ly.
