Sony’s PlayStation console has dominated the console market for the past few years. However, not only is the PlayStation 5 launching this year for the festive winter season, but the Xbox Series X is also slated for release. And the latest console has definitely given us something to talk about. Although we still do not know all the details, such as the power of the console, we know for sure that some games will go on sale at the same time that have already been noted in the press and made fans look forward to the release.

Among the development studios are such well-known names as CD Projekt Red, Ubisoft, THQ Nordic, Techland and others.

We’ll start with those games that are already confirmed for Xbox Series X, and also look at those that are most likely to release at the same time and possibly be available on multiple platforms. Let us clarify that most likely, most games for previous versions of the Xbox will also be available on the new product, however, there is no specific information on this yet.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

The first part of this game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released in 2017 on Windows and PS4 platforms, in 2018 it became available for Xbox One. The game received positive reviews as it looked at mental health issues through a dark fantasy lens.

A sequel to the game was announced at the Game Awards 2019 but has yet to receive an exact release date. Most likely, the game will appear either in December 2020 or early 2021.

As for the plot, nothing is known about it either, only that the heroine will have a new quest, and the trailer looks much darker than the first part. This is saying something, as Hellblade has already become one of the most intense and heavy games. It should be noted that the quality of the trailer is also impressive, and the developers claim that the video was recorded on a game engine, which makes us suspect that the future of console games will be exactly like that.

But we can say with confidence that if the second part is as good as the first one, then this series of games will not decrease in fans.

Halo Infinite

Fans of the shooter Halo also have something to look forward to from the Xbox. The sixth game in the main story series and the fifth game to feature the Master Chief. The game will take place on the surface of the ring world. The trailer for the game was shown at E3 2018, and the release is scheduled in parallel with the Xbox One. An interesting point is that it was originally planned to make Halo Infinite exclusive to the new Xbox model, however, in January 2020, 343 Industries studio representatives clarified that the game will have certain advantages when playing on Xbox Series X, but there are no plans to cancel access from other There are no Microsoft console versions.

The game definitely attracts the attention of new players with its graphics and features. Fans will surely return for the familiar lore and favorite characters.

Halo Infinite is being released with Xbox support, so it will only be available for Microsoft consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077

The game instantly attracted attention from the very moment the first trailer was released. Fans and the press alike were impressed by the graphics, the mix of genres, and the famous appearance in the Keanu Reeves trailer. The Polish developer CD Projekt Red, responsible for the release of the game, has long earned and confirmed its reputation with the release of the The Witcher series of games. And this was already enough to transfer Cyberpunk 2077 to the status of the most anticipated releases.

A lot is already known about the project. The game is played in first-person mode, and the main character is V, a mercenary with a customizable appearance. The game also includes RPG elements, so you can choose a class and additional features.

Another feature of Cyberpunk 2077 is the open world. The main setting will be Night City in California, which consists of six districts with different characteristics.

The game is based on the Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game that spawned many books, and franchise creator Mike Pondsmith advised developers on Cyberpunk 2077.

The release date is set for September 17, 2020, and the game will be available on various platforms.

Outriders

Developers People Can Fly and publisher Square Enix have unveiled their brand new sci-fi project with fantasy elements. Or rather, its own ambitious shooter, which most likely should start a whole series. However, the future rests entirely on the shoulders of Outriders, in a genre that already has a lot of fan-favorite games. So the task is not an easy one. In order for the project not to be lost among the rest, memorable differences are needed. Fortunately, some publications have already given the opportunity to test the game, so we have the most up-to-date data. For example, that the character will be able to choose the appearance, even if there are not so many options. The main genre is a shooter, but the game has enough role-playing elements. Characters get class choices, traits, and a skill tree.

The game features multi-player co-op and even a choice of campaign difficulty. Outriders feels familiar and new at the same time, and perhaps this can play into the hands of the developers. The game will go on sale at the end of 2020 and will be available on PC and consoles.

gods and monsters

A vibrant fantasy adventure game from the creators of Assassin’s Creed that challenges the player to save the Greek gods in a world full of mythical creatures. This will be done through tasks, dungeons and battles. Fans instantly found similarities with another popular game — The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The world of the game looks like a fairy tale, and the characters have received a cartoonish design that stands out from the more serious and often dark games with motion capture and real actors.

You can not only choose a character, but also customize his appearance. There are no official gameplay releases yet, and information about the game is very limited, but Gods and Monsters is already available for pre-order.

As for the more famous release of the developers of Assassin’s Creed, a new chapter in the series is not yet planned.

Gothic remake

The release of this game is not even scheduled for 2020, but later, despite the fact that the original game was released back in 2001. It is fair to assume that the release will be delayed until the 20th anniversary of the game and this will be a very iconic gesture.

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of an exit yet, since the future fate of the project will be determined by the playable teaser presented by the developers.

A new, as yet unnamed studio in Spain is working on the game, and the teaser is a great opportunity to get instant feedback and recommendations so as not to disappoint fans of the original Gothic. For example, almost immediately, players noted too bright colors, recalling that the original game was darker than the popular “Witcher” series.

This precedent is interesting not only from the point of view of new game releases, because it can open the door for dozens of re-releases and revisions of old favorite games that will benefit from modern graphics.

Gothic game will be designed exclusively for next generation consoles.

Rainbow Six Quarantine

The game is designed for three players and includes elements of tactics and co-op. At the same time, Rainbow Six Quarantine is a shooter and is a spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege.

As befits a co-op game, it will be supported not only by new console models.

According to the plot, operators will have to face a new kind of mutated alien parasites that can infect not only people, but everything around them. The enemy is dangerous, and players will have to put in a lot of effort to defeat it.

The game will be released first on Windows, and will later be adapted for consoles. The release is scheduled for 2020–2021.

Dying Light 2

Role-playing action in the popular survival genre, where the player has to fight zombies. The sequel takes place 15 years after the original game. The main character was Aiden, infected with a virus that turns people into zombies. The virus gives him superpowers, which the player will have to use. The game world is completely open, and the map is 4 times larger than in the original game. Also in Dying Light 2, the player’s actions affect the state of the entire world.

The game was announced at E3 in 2018, and in 2019 the developers confirmed that it will be available on different generations of consoles. The exact release date has not yet been specified.

Watch Dogs: Legion

A game in which the London of the near future became an open world, plunged into chaos. The player will have to build resistance in order to bring his world into a semblance of order. Watch Dogs: Legion is one of the few games that has already released graphics that has earned positive reviews. After the not-so-warm reception of the original game and the low sales of the sequel, all the hopes of the developers fall on the continuation. The first reviews are very positive, although it is still too early to say how successful the game is. In any case, it will be available on the new Xbox and it is there that you can appreciate all the features of the graphics.

The Xbox Series X will go on sale at the end of 2020. Although the exact characteristics are not yet known, the manufacturers note that the console will become a completely new word in our understanding of games. New improved graphics, sound, increased power and enhanced features. There is very little left before the release.

In the meantime, players who don’t want to wait for the new game can purchase the Xbox One X. This console opens up access to numerous games in the library, such as Jedi Fallen Order, Gears of War, NBA 2K20 and more.

An alternative would be a full-fledged PlayStation 4 Pro console with an even wider selection of games, including many exclusive titles such as Spider-Man.

Well, for those who prefer to play always and everywhere, there is a universal option — Nintendo switch. A small portable console that connects to your TV and allows you to play in a company of 2 to 8 people with additional controllers.

2020 is full of new releases and it is quite possible that it will become very bright and memorable for gamers. There are still a lot of new products and announcements ahead, which we are looking forward to.
