Huawei AF15 Wireless Tripod Monopod Review

Shoot­ing videos on YouTube or tak­ing pho­tos on Insta­gram is a pop­u­lar hob­by for many. Var­i­ous com­pa­nies offer pro­fes­sion­als and hob­by­ists a num­ber of acces­sories, among which mono­pod tripods are very pop­u­lar. Unboxing

This mono­pod was a gift with the pur­chase of a smart­phone. Deliv­ery took 4 days from the moment of order to the door of the house from Moscow to Bel­go­rod by the trans­port com­pa­ny DPD. The bun­dle is not rich: the mono­pod itself and 2 instruc­tions in dif­fer­ent lan­guages, the Russ­ian lan­guage is present. All this was packed in a card­board box with the image of the mono­pod itself, a list of the main char­ac­ter­is­tics and a code for check­ing for orig­i­nal­i­ty.

Appearance

The mono­pod is made of soft-touch plas­tic. The assem­bled device is a short stick 18 cm long.

The max­i­mum thick­ness of the device is 5 cm.

For a reli­able loca­tion of the device, on a flat sur­face, petals are used, the spread of which is 15 cm, which is quite enough to pro­tect the device from tip­ping over. The device also has 4 legs, which is also part of the tele­scope.

There are rub­ber inserts on the bot­tom of the legs to pre­vent slip­ping on the sur­face.

There are mag­nets along the edges of the petals that pre­vent the legs from mov­ing apart spon­ta­neous­ly and serve as a han­dle when using the device as a mono­pod. The mag­nets hold the legs well, they do not spon­ta­neous­ly sep­a­rate.

The fas­ten­ing of the legs to the base looks reli­able, noth­ing back­lash.

The tele­scope is moved apart with­out much effort, but the sec­tions are secure­ly fixed with plas­tic inserts.

The hold­er is made of plas­tic with rub­ber­ized inserts. The hold­er rotates 360 degrees in 45-degree incre­ments. Under the weight of the device, the posi­tion does not change; when scrolling, you can hear char­ac­ter­is­tic clicks. In addi­tion to hor­i­zon­tal rota­tion, the tri­pod allows you to do ver­ti­cal rota­tion in 180-degree incre­ments.

The clamp is moved apart on one side with a good effort, inside it is held on two studs. The max­i­mum width of the device that can fit into the hold­er is 8.5 cm.

Control

The tri­pod is equipped with a remov­able Blue­tooth but­ton. The remote con­trol is pulled out by a sim­ple shift to the side, insert­ed back in the same way. There are two mag­nets on the back of the remote con­trol that addi­tion­al­ly fix the remote con­trol in the device. The remote works at a dis­tance of up to 10 meters.

The remote con­trol is pow­ered by a CR2025 bat­tery, which was already in it straight from the fac­to­ry.

To pair the remote con­trol with a smart­phone, you need to hold down the remote con­trol but­ton for 2 sec­onds. Then turn on blue­tooth on the smart­phone and select the remote con­trol with the name AF15 from the found devices, if the con­nec­tion is suc­cess­ful, the green indi­ca­tor on the remote con­trol lights up for 3 sec­onds. The man­u­fac­tur­er claims sup­port for the fol­low­ing oper­at­ing sys­tems: EMUI2.3, iOS 5.1, Android 4.3 and new­er ver­sions.

The device in the hold­er is fixed per­fect­ly, the design holds the action cam­era and smart­phone with­out any prob­lems.

The max­i­mum tilt angle shown in the pho­to is about 45 degrees.

But if nec­es­sary, you can tilt the hold­er to the oth­er side, which will allow you to hold the device at 90 degrees. Up to an aver­age height, the device stands secure­ly at an angle of 90 degrees; above, sway­ing is already occur­ring.

In mono­pod mode, the device flex­es slight­ly, in the hands of the tri­pod han­dle does not slip under pres­sure.
