Overview of a stand-alone ring light with a 2000 mAh battery for photo and video shooting

Package

After plac­ing the order, the lamp was deliv­ered in about two weeks to the local post office. It comes in a card­board box, inside which there is a spe­cial insert, it is designed to fix the device and pro­tect it dur­ing trans­porta­tion.

Also, com­plete with a ring light, I ordered a small fold­ing tri­pod, which I had pre­vi­ous­ly reviewed on my blog on the site. There­fore, with­in the frame­work of this pub­li­ca­tion, I will not dwell on it.

Equipment

Inside the box is the lamp itself, the charg­ing cable and instruc­tions. The instruc­tion is print­ed in Chi­nese and Eng­lish, and also has addi­tion­al illus­tra­tions that, if nec­es­sary, will help you under­stand the device.

As for the charg­ing cable, it has a mod­ern Type‑C con­nec­tor, and its length is almost 1 meter, it is also worth not­ing that the cable sheath is soft and elas­tic. It can be seen that the cable is made with high qual­i­ty and, in my opin­ion, it should last a long time, and it can also be used to charge third-par­ty devices.

Appearance

The lamp is made of high qual­i­ty, its body is rigid and well assem­bled. A mat­te light dif­fuser is installed on the front side of the device. In gen­er­al, the first impres­sions of the device are pos­i­tive.

On the back side there is a man­u­fac­tur­er’s logo, as well as a small tech­ni­cal spec­i­fi­ca­tion.

On the bot­tom of the device there is a stan­dard thread­ed lock, as well as a “foot” for installing the lamp in a “hot shoe” type con­nec­tor. And for clamp­ing the ring light in the “hot shoe” there is a spe­cial rotat­ing wheel.

Functional

On the top of the device, the man­u­fac­tur­er installed the entire inter­face in the form of two con­trol wheels, a pow­er but­ton, a charg­ing port and a charge indi­ca­tor. The lamp is turned on by press­ing the cen­tral but­ton, the wheel with the sig­na­ture “DIM” is respon­si­ble for the bright­ness of the light flux, and the wheel with the sig­na­ture “CT” for the glow tem­per­a­ture, which is adjustable from 3200K to 5600K. The charge indi­ca­tor on the lamp is made in the form of four LEDs, the indi­ca­tion of each of which is respon­si­ble for approx­i­mate­ly 25% of the remain­ing charge. And, as I said ear­li­er, this device has a mod­ern Type‑C charg­ing con­nec­tor.

Dimensions and weight

The weight of the device is 183 grams, and its out­er diam­e­ter is 150 mil­lime­ters, the height of the lamp, tak­ing into account the latch, is 164 mm. The dimen­sions of the device, in my opin­ion, make it easy to car­ry it with you and use it at any time if nec­es­sary.

Scope of application

The lamp can be wide­ly used for solv­ing var­i­ous tasks, it can be used as a main or addi­tion­al light­ing, mount­ed on a tri­pod, or used with a mono­pod for per­son­al shoot­ing.

Thanks to a spe­cial hot shoe slot, the ring light can be addi­tion­al­ly equipped with var­i­ous equip­ment in the form of a micro­phone or dec­o­ra­tive light­ing.

Below I will attach a few pho­tos of how objects are seen under the light of this lamp. It may not be vis­i­ble in the pho­to, but the col­or ren­der­ing index on the lamp is real­ly very high, I com­pared it with two sim­i­lar lamps that I had in stock, and this mod­el showed, in my opin­ion, the best results. The man­u­fac­tur­er claims that the CRI of this mod­el is 95.

Main technical characteristics

When the lamp is set to charge, four LEDs flash alter­nate­ly, and when every 25% of the bat­tery charge is reached, one of the LEDs starts to burn con­stant­ly, so you can eas­i­ly deter­mine the cur­rent charge lev­el. On a sin­gle charge at max­i­mum bright­ness, the lamp works for about 2 hours. More­over, the man­u­fac­tur­er claims that the device can work for about 80 min­utes, but it def­i­nite­ly works longer in any mode of use. But fast charg­ing, of course, is not enough for the lamp, it takes more than one hour to charge the device. And this is per­haps the only neg­a­tive.

Below is a pho­to with data from a light meter. The mea­sure­ments were car­ried out at arm’s length from the lamp in the absence of addi­tion­al light­ing. The read­ings were record­ed under dif­fer­ent oper­at­ing modes of the device, at dif­fer­ent bright­ness and glow tem­per­a­ture. When mea­sur­ing, the luxme­ter dis­plays read­ings from 300 to 620 Lux.

Sum­ming up, I want to say that this is an excel­lent com­pact ring light that can work for a long time on the built-in bat­tery, the light is well-assem­bled and has a micro­phone con­nec­tor. In my opin­ion, this ring lumi­naire is an excel­lent solu­tion for improv­ing light­ing con­di­tions, if it is not pos­si­ble to take larg­er items.
