In October 2018 at Photokina, Viltrox, a manufacturer of photographic accessories, announced the debut launch of three lenses for Sony and Fujifilm mirrorless cameras.

This event marked the entry of Viltrox into the photographic market.

Already in 2014, information appeared that Shenzhen Jueying Technology was attracting specialists from all over the world for independent development, and after 4 years, the result was presented to the general public.

In total, the company introduced 3 lenses: a wide-angle PFU RBMH 20MM F1.8 ASPH and a standard PFU RBMH 85MM F1.8 for Sony E‑Mount, as well as a portrait lens PFU RBMH 85MM F1.8 STM for X‑mount.

All three lenses for Sony and Fujifilm are prime lenses.

As for the wide-angle lens for Sony, it is designed specifically for shooting landscapes and architecture. This is especially noticeable in the graph presented by Viltrox, where you can see that the lens works best at a closed aperture, and noticeably smears the image at an open aperture.

However, the manufacturer has taken care of manual exposure adjustment using sliding rings, and the presence of an autofocus motor. The focal length of the lens is 20mm, and it is designed for full-frame matrices.

The design of the lens is also interesting, it includes 12 elements in 9 groups. There is a double aspherical lens at the back, 4 low dispersion elements in the middle, and an attached lens with increased transparency. In addition, the lens has 12 aperture blades and weighs 775g.

The second lens for Sony is similar in design. It also includes an autofocus motor, has an 85mm focal length on full-frame sensors, and f/1.8 — f/16 aperture. The lens diaphragm has 9 blades, its weight is 665g.

Inside, it includes 10 elements in 7 groups. These include an ED lens and an HD Nano multi-coated front lens. The lens is a standard model and is suitable for beginners, especially those who are learning to work with manual focus. The PFU RBMH 85MM F1.8 is versatile and suitable for a variety of situations, and the fixed focal length guarantees sharp images.

The portrait lens for Fuji is an autofocus lens and is designed to diversify the model line for these cameras. At the time of the announcement, one of the main arguments in favor of Viltrox was the lack of analogues from third-party manufacturers, namely, lenses with f / 1.8 aperture. The internal design includes 10 elements in 7 groups and completely repeats the one received by the standard lens for Sony. However, externally, the lens is noticeably different and is equipped with a stepper autofocus motor. It is also slightly lighter than the others, weighing 636g.

All three lenses are very attractively priced and, compared to options from Fuji and Sony, the Viltrox are in the budget line.

Since 2007, the Chinese company Viltrox has earned a positive reputation in the development and production of accessories and appliances. Among the company’s most popular products, you can find monitors, on-camera flashes, LED lighting, adapters and adapter rings for cameras, and much more. Today lenses of this company are available to professionals and amateurs.
