It would seem that the year 2017 has just begun, but we did not have time to look back, as he crept up to the equator and it’s time to sum up the first half of the year. By tradition, already at the beginning of the year, many manufacturers pleased us with new products. Some immediately attracted attention (yes, we are talking about Samsung), some pleased with stable performance. One way or another, let’s take a closer look at smartphones that so far occupy the top places in terms of characteristics and performance.

  • Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus
  • Weight: 173g (155g); Dimensions: 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1mm (148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm) ; OS: Android 7; Display diagonal: 6.2 inches (5.8); Resolution: 1440 x 2960; Processor: Exynos 8895; RAM: 4GB; Built-in memory: 64GB; Battery capacity: 3,500mAh (3000); Main camera: 12MP; Front camera: 8MP

There is nothing surprising in the fact that the first place in our review will go to this particular smartphone. No wonder almost everyone considers it their duty to call it the best Android smartphone. And there is a lot of truth in this assessment.

Let’s start with the futuristic design of the Samsung Galaxy S8 — a curved display like no other, a camera capable of capturing incredible photos and performance that can handle everything from music and video to the latest games.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will serve well for many years to those who are not in a hurry to change it to the next market leader, and it is definitely worth the money.

You can choose the S8 or S8 Plus model. The second, of course, will cost more, but it also has a more powerful battery.

If you want to get to know this amazing smartphone closer, we have made a video review especially for you.

  • One Plus 3T
  • Weight: 158g; Dimensions: 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.4 mm; OS: Android Marshmallow Display diagonal: 5.5 inches; Resolution: 1080 x 1920; Processor: Snapdragon 821; RAM: 6GB; Built-in memory: 64GB / 128GB; Battery capacity: 3400mAh; Main camera: 16MP; Front camera: 16MP

We definitely don’t talk about this smartphone often enough. After the success of the One Plus 3, the market was taken over by its newer model, the One Plus 3T. All the qualities that won us over in OnePlus 3 remained in place: the nimble processor became even faster, the large battery received more capacity, and the front camera was added resolution. Of course, we won’t see the original OnePlus 3 on the shelves anymore, but it will be replaced by an equally worthy smartphone. This guarantees us Snapdragon 821 and 6GB of RAM.

Compared to Samsung’s flagship, the OnePlus 3T is a very, very economical smartphone that, by the way, gives almost the same performance, incredible endurance, and more.

In a word, this smartphone is definitely worth attention and the question “Is it worth buying?” there is only one correct answer.

  • LG G5
  • Weight: 159g; Dimensions: 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm; OS: Android Marshmallow (upgraded to Android Nougat) Display diagonal: 5.3 inches; Resolution: 1440x2560; Processor: Snapdragon 820; RAM: 4GB; Built-in memory: 32GB; Battery capacity: 2800mAh; Main camera: 16MP + 8MP; Front camera: 8MP

Full metal body and replaceable battery? Can you ask for more from a smartphone? You can, and the LG G5 doesn’t disappoint. Even though in terms of design it does not meet the latest trends, but inside it has excellent power. According to the test results, the LG G5 outperforms even the Samsung Galaxy S7. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a chic display with a diagonal of 5.3 inches. LG did not stay away from the fashion trend of dual cameras on the back. One of the cameras has a resolution of 16 megapixels, but the second is much more interesting — this is a wide-angle 8‑megapixel camera, with which any mobile photography enthusiast will spend many pleasant minutes.

  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • Weight: 188g; Dimensions: 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm; OS: iOS 10; Display diagonal: 5.5 inches; Resolution: 1080 x 1920; Processor: Apple A10 Fusion; RAM: 3GB; Built-in memory: 32/128/256GB; Battery capacity: 2,900mAh; Main camera: 12MP; Front camera: 7MP

Since the appearance of the first iPhone, these smartphones from Apple have not been left out of any review, always receiving their portion of positive feedback. The iPhone 7 and its older brother the 7 Plus are the most expensive smartphones on the market today, but they also shape the direction the rest of the market is heading in many ways.

If the 7 is a relatively small step up from the previous model, then the 7 Plus is definitely a device worth considering. First, it is equipped with a dual camera and a double optical zoom. An improved battery ensures longer battery life, and fast charging keeps your connection going as always.

Apple’s speed, build, and design are top notch as always, and of course, we’ve got the iPhone 8 (or 7S) ahead of us, about which we can only trade rumors for now.

  • Google Pixel
  • Weight: 143g; Dimensions: 143.8 x 69.5 x 8.5mm; OS: Android 7.1; Display diagonal: 5 inches; Resolution: 1080 x 1920; Processor: Snapdragon 821; RAM: 4GB; Built-in memory: 32/128GB; Battery capacity: 2770mAh; Main cameras: 12MP; Front camera: 8MP

A couple of new smartphones from Google are very interesting devices, but what makes them stand out from the list? Camera. The 12-megapixel sensor leaves behind both the iPhone 7 camera (which once seemed fantastic) and the Samsung Galaxy S7 camera (but not the S8). Despite having a regular rather than a dual camera, the Google Pixel certainly won’t disappoint fans of mobile photography.

Successfully built into the novelty from Google and the “clean” axis of Android Nougat.

The battery capacity and performance of this smartphone will fully meet the requirements of any modern user. Nice and very unusual design looks very attractive. In its category, this smartphone takes quite a worthy place and will serve its owner properly.

In addition, you should pay attention to the Google Pixel XL — in terms of performance, performance and camera, it is definitely one of the best phablet smartphones.

  • Samsung Galaxy J5
  • Weight: 149g; Dimensions: 142.00 x 73.00 x 7.90 mm; OS: Android Lollipop Display diagonal: 5.2 inches; Resolution: 1280 x 720; Processor: Snapdragon 410; RAM: 1.5GB; Built-in memory: 8GB; Battery capacity: 3000mAh; Main camera: 13MP; front camera: 5MP

We discussed flagships and interesting new items, it’s time to pay attention to budget smartphones. One of the best options for those who don’t want to invest in an expensive smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy J5. The first thing that catches your eye (and for good reason) is the Super AMOLED display of incredible quality. For budget devices, this is a rarity. The battery of this smartphone is also impressive, numerous tests rated its performance higher than the battery of the Galaxy S7.

If you are looking for a quality, convenient and affordable smartphone, the Galaxy J5 will definitely suit you.

  • HTC U11
  • Weight: 169g; Dimensions: 153.9 x 75.9 x 7.9mm; OS: Android Nougat Display diagonal: 5.5 inches; Resolution: 1440 x 2560; Processor: Snapdragon 835; RAM: 4GB; Built-in memory: 64GB; Battery capacity: 3000mAh; Main camera: 12MP; front camera: 16MP

And again a novelty from HTC. This time the company surprises us with a new feature — the smartphone can be squeezed to perform a number of functions. This addition is definitely worth paying attention to, because so far we have not seen this.

In general, the smartphone impresses not only with its design (and its appearance is really very original), but also with its high-quality filling.

The camera, for example, will allow you to take very cool pictures and the HDR mode is especially pleasantly surprising.

Another very worthy function is the audio. The smartphone has excellent sound, and the set includes high-quality headphones.

In general, this smartphone is designed for fans of new products and original devices.

  • Huawei P9
  • Weight: 144g; Dimensions: 145 x 70.9 x 7 mm; OS: Android Marshmallow Display diagonal: 5.2 inches; Resolution: 1080 x 1920; Processor: HiSilicon Kirin 955; RAM: 4GB; Built-in memory: 32GB; Battery capacity: 3000mAh; Main camera: 12MP; Front camera: 8MP

As always, the Chinese company Huawei did not stand aside from the leaders. P9 is a smartphone that will provide its owner with a lot for its price.

The camera in this smartphone was especially successful — now it is the third camera in terms of power and quality among all smartphones on the market. As a true flagship, Huawei P9 delivers high performance and features that leave previous models far behind. Battery endurance is also excellent, and the price, according to the tradition of Chinese manufacturers, pleasantly surprises.

Here is a list of smartphones that are popular and bring something new.

Manufacturers still have half a year ahead to change the situation on the market, but already now there is plenty to choose from, so that any tastes and preferences of the public do not remain unanswered. In the meantime, we will look forward to news from popular companies, new flagships hitting the shelves and watching the progress in real time.
