Once deleted from the computer, the files do not immediately disappear forever. First, the operating system marks their location as reusable space. But the file will only be overwritten when the device needs space.

Therefore, as soon as you have deleted the desired file, it is best to immediately stop using the disk so that the file is not overwritten.

Such programs include, for example, Disk Drill, a free application for Windows 7, 8 and 10.

Apps like Disk Drill also exist for Mac computers and work in the same way as they do on Windows. It is enough to enter “data recovery” in the AppStore search and the store will show you the available options.

If your iPhone automatically uploads pictures to iCloud, then even after deleting them, you can restore them from there.

First check if iCloud is enabled: Settings -> Your Account -> iCloud -> Photos. If the function is enabled, the photo can be restored.

  • To do this, go to icloud.com with your Apple ID and go through verification.
  • After that, go to the “Photos” folder and there, as well as on the phone, there will be a “Recently Deleted” folder.
  • In it you will find deleted photos. However, if you sync photos from a Mac, tablet or phone, they will all be stored there.

Also, photos that were synchronized but deleted from one device remain available in the cloud and can be restored at any time.

You can recover photos from your phone on Mac and Windows using a special program such as Tenorshare UltData. The application supports more than 2000 smartphone models and is able to restore data, including contacts and messages, even from a memory card and after the device is damaged or rolled back to factory settings.

  • Install the program on Mac or Windows.

  • Now connect your smartphone via USB cable to the computer;
  • Instructions will appear on the screen indicating how to enable USB debugging on the smartphone.
  • After this action is completed, you will see a list of files. Among them, you need to select the ones you are interested in and scan them.
  • After that, check the files again.

How to recover photos deleted from a memory card

You can only recover files from a memory card using special applications. Again, you can use the Disk Drill application, the method of which we have already described above.

If you are worried about the safety of your files and their accidental deletion, then it is best to make regular backups or automatically upload captured photos to the cloud. Now this can be done even with modern cameras, so do not neglect this opportunity so that deleted photos can always be quickly restored.
