A tripod is a very important part for almost any photo or video shooting, today the market offers a huge variety of models with different sizes and characteristics. In this publication, I will review the Ulanzi MT-14 mini tripod model, which is distinguished by its compact size, durability and low price.

Package

The tripod comes in a regular picture box with the Ulanzi logo. The box is made of thin cardboard, but you should not worry about the integrity of the tripod during delivery, it is very dense and, when folded, is not susceptible to any damage. The tripod is also packed in an additional plastic bag. Additionally, I ordered a special head that allows you to fix the equipment mounted on a tripod at the desired angle. I will not dwell on it, I will only add that the seller has more functional heads of excellent quality.

Appearance

The first impression of the tripod is quite good, it sits nicely in the hand, the materials used in the manufacture of the tripod are pleasant to the touch. The legs of the tripod are made of thick and hard plastic, so the tripod will definitely withstand the declared load of 2 kilograms.

The legs are equipped with anti-slip rubber inserts, they do their job well, but on some surfaces they can leave black marks when moving the tripod. I talk more about this in the video version of the review.

Functional

This tripod is equipped with two-stage folding legs, to remove them you need to take the edge of the leg and pull it until it clicks. The legs are fixed after opening, and in order to assemble them back, you need to press a special button with the inscription “push”.

As part of the functionality, I would also like to highlight the mechanism of the legs, which is equipped with a kind of spring. The spring works in such a way that the legs move apart easily, and in order to return them to their original position, you need to make a little effort. That is, this mechanism prevents arbitrary folding of the legs of the tripod.

The top of the tripod has a standard threaded connection, as well as a rubber insert that protects equipment mounted on a tripod from scratches.

Dimensions

The tripod has a diameter of 30mm and a slightly longer length of 120mm. At the same time, in the working position with the legs extended, its height is 105 millimeters, and with the legs folded 70 mm. It is also worth noting that the weight of the product is only 90 grams. Such dimensions, in my opinion, make it easy to carry a tripod with you in almost any pocket and use it when necessary.

Scope of application

In my opinion, this tripod can be used for a variety of tasks, it can be used as a tripod for a smartphone, or an action camera, and the product can also be used as a stabilizer handle for more comfortable shooting. I use this tripod to set up auxiliary lighting.

If you are interested in the RGB lamp in the photo above, I will leave a link to its full review in my blog on the site.

conclusions

In my opinion, this is an excellent model of an inexpensive, but durable and high-quality tripod. The manufacturer made a worthy product for their money. A tripod is perfect for taking photos or videos from a smartphone, it is also convenient to use it to set up lighting and / or a microphone. The only negative is that the rubber pads on the legs can leave black marks on the surface used. Well, that’s all, I hope the post was useful to you.
